MSME loans, subsidies and Udyam
Many micro and small enterprises qualify for government-backed credit and subsidies they never apply for. Banks decide on the strength of the documents in front of them — a realistic project report, clean financials and clear cash-flow projections.
What we prepare
- Project reports and CMA data for term loans and working capital limits.
- Cash-flow projections that a credit officer can test.
- Loan document checklists — ITRs, financial statements, bank statements, GST returns and KYC.
- Scheme eligibility review for CGTMSE and PMEGP.
- Udyam registration and MSME classification.
Schemes at a glance
| Scheme | Key points |
|---|---|
| CGTMSE | Credit guarantee for eligible micro and small enterprises, allowing collateral-free credit up to ₹10 crore (ceiling raised from ₹5 crore for guarantees from 1 April 2025). |
| PMEGP | Margin money subsidy of 15% to 35% of project cost for new micro enterprises; projects up to ₹50 lakh (manufacturing) and ₹20 lakh (service). The subsidy is held for three years. |
| Udyam | Free online registration that identifies an enterprise as micro, small or medium and links it to MSME schemes. |
The 45-day payment rule
Under the MSMED Act, 2006, buyers must pay micro and small suppliers within the agreed period, which cannot exceed 45 days (15 days where nothing is agreed). Delayed amounts carry compound interest at three times the bank rate notified by the RBI. Businesses on either side of this rule should track MSME dues separately in their books.
